Sanctuary Church Response to President Trump’s Declaration that Churches are Essential:
On Friday May 22, 2020, President Donald Trump declared houses of worship as essential. To hear his declaration, please visit https://youtu.be/1jPP8IeOJj8.
We are excited about the possibility of meeting together again and are encouraged that the Church is being considered as part of the national and state reopening conversation. We realize that some churches will open this Sunday. After prayerful consideration, we feel that it is not wise to open just yet. We will continue to meet online at this time and will not be gathering at our campus. Here are the reasons why:
– The county has yet to give clearance for larger gatherings, including churches. We expect this to be coming soon.-When we do return to meeting in person, we want to provide as safe an experience as possible. As such, we feel it most prudent to wait until the CDC and Solano County Health Guidelines are publicly available for review.
– President Trump’s announcement on Friday, May 22 came with his expectation that the CDC would release guidelines for churches on the same day. Solano County and the State of California will hopefully release their guidelines very soon.
– We have been planning for a few weeks what re-opening may look like, but until guidelines from the CDC or Solano County Health office are specific and publicly available for our purview, we can only speculate about the requirements to which we must adhere.
– Please know that we are doing our best to open up for in person services as soon as possible that would continue to provide safe measures for meeting, and we believe that day is coming soon.
Keep checking your email for further updates on re-opening and what this will look like.
Additionally, we have included the published response and recommendation from the Northern California and Nevada Assemblies of God District Officials (Our denominational leaders) below.
Thank you and God Bless You!

Response Northern California and Nevada Assemblies of God District Officials published on Facebook:
Friends, President Trump announced today that “churches are essential” and he’s asked the CDC to publish standards to allow in-person worship services to resume.
CA Governor Newsom also announced today that he’ll be lifting the ban on in-person worship services “very soon” and promised to publish guidelines on Monday.
This is very good news! We are pleased to know that there is “light at the end of the tunnel.”
We want to let everyone know that we will be reviewing those guidelines and hope to have substantial recommendation next week. Until then, we advise that churches continue to comply with the State or County guidelines.
